President elect Joe Biden has allocated $10bn for cyber as part of the COVID 19 stimulus package, in a reaction to the recent Russian ‘SolarWinds’ hack. Calling on Congress to approve a major investment in IT and cybersecurity for the federal government, describing it as an urgent national security issue that cannot wait.
The SolarWinds hack highlighted vulnerabilities in the cyber security posture of Federal Government and the large-scale challenges faced adopting cyber security practices. One which from previous statements made is a priority for the new administration and one which is not just an issue for the US government.
