Security is a global, regional and national challenge. One where being apart of the ‘club’ is important and where collaboration, information sharing and strategic alignment is without a doubt a top priority.
As demonstrated with the enclosed, the EU is moving quickly to develop an integrated framework for defense cooperation for the EU, through the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO). A program to integrate EU defense capabilities that has the potential to affect NATO, and relationships between EU member states through closer defense integration.
The EU has created the framework for state wide cyber collaboration through levers that include the Resilience of Critical Entities Directive (EU 2022/2557), EU NIS 2 and the proposed EU Cyber Solidarity Act. That one can see in Figure 1 of the enclosed, forms part of the EU roadmap for defense security. The U.S has created a national cybersecurity strategy and is working towards a range of cyber regulations. In both cases the EU and U.S are creating approaches for security collaboration, information sharing and strategic alignment.
At a time when cyber regulation is developing thick and fast. Regulation that will affect international trade. Closer cooperation and harmonisation is required to enable systems integration, knowledge sharing and cyber risk reduction. Facilitating the broader goals of national, corporate and economic security.
