Call us now:
Ted Dziekanowski, an important read on cybersecurity, ‘who didn’t see this coming’? Cyber has historically been a conversation that has been treated as Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt (FUD). We read about the challenges the public and private sector has with cybersecurity compliance, resourcing and funding and ‘it won’t happen to me’. We can read about the significant sums spent on cyber and how market forces have not delivered cybersecurity. We read about supply chain hacks and the impact of cybersecurity on IP theft, ransomware and national security.
The soon to be released national cyber strategy is unlike ‘anything we’ve seen before’, it is the first step in national cyber regulation, outside of FISMA and OBM A130 in the U.S. The FUD debate is now not important, cyber will be regulated from the Executive Office. The regulatory compliance wheel will take over compliance and enforcement regimes will start to take shape.
“If ‘tough’ means that we have to be serious about what we want cyberspace to do for us … then it’s time for us to be tough,†Chris Inglis.
U.S partners should be concerned. The U.S is moving to address Federal Cyber, CNI cybersecurity and cyber supply chain risk management. Cybersecurity will be a requirement to access U.S capital markets (SEC cyber proposal) and U.S cyber regulatory requirements will feed into U.S supply chains and developers of ICT products and services. Federal agencies have been evaluating cyber legal compliance and starting to set legal precedence through the DOJ and DoT, and contractual precedence set through the DoD DFARS/ CMMC program.
We have followed these developments over the past 2 years. Writing thought leadership and solutions to address cyber regulatory proposal and compliance programs.
