However cyber risk management seems to never make it onto the board agenda en-masse. It is well known that boards have not put enough emphasis on cybersecuirty risk management. Reports by Heidrick & Struggles amongst other make it clear that board cyber risk ownership, and board knowledge skills and experience to oversight and assure cybersecurity risk management are lacking.The challenge ahead for boards is how to address governance over cybersecurity risk management? An increasingly regulated risk that comes with personal and corporate civil and criminal penalties? A risk that is well documented to affect national, corporate and economic security.Yes the time is now for ‘boards to actively embrace corporate cyber responsibility as a matter of good governance’, ‘ensuring that CEOs and Board Members are held personally accountable for effectively managing cyber risk and directly engaged when it comes to corporate cybersecurity’.
