Thank for posting Olaf Classen. At best corporate intellectual property can take year to develop and cost a significant amount of money to create. At worst those corporate that are in the defense industry not only spend time and money, what the create forms part of nations security for many nation states that buy their technology.
The U.S DoD has to its own cost found critical defense IP ending up in the hand of adversarial nation states. Many have argued for example the the Chinese J-20 Mighty Dragon (https://lnkd.in/d-WGgJJ3). The theft of defense IP has certainly been reported as a major concern by the U.S government accountability office.
So it should be of a major concern to the South Koreans that IP of both air and land based weapon systems. The theft highlight the complexity associated with securing IP, as data appear to have been acquired by both cyber related theft and tradition theft by employees to competitors (https://lnkd.in/dbWmE36z).
All corporate boards need to be aware that their IP is their competitive advantage, revenue and profit and needs to be secured through governance. Least of all if that IP is critical to national security.
