Thank you for posting CYFIRMA. One cannot validate the report or the OSTI, but the report paints a viable picture and chronology of the JLR cyberattack. It seems several threat actors piled into JLR, with threat actors vying for recognition for the hack. Highlighting the severity of the hack.
The reports demonstrate that the actor was inside the JLR network for some time; it would have taken weeks/ months to identify and harvest the data taken. Some of the information identified demonstrates the broader impact of the attack. As code related to communications between JLR vehicles and JLR the company seems to have been compromised.
One has said several times that the nature and growth of vehicle communications, cloud and the need/ opportunity of vehicle manufacturers to connect with the car, can create a risk. The JLR hack may have identified one of those risks.
Well worth a read.
