Thank you for posting Olaf Classen, as you point out the 8-K filing has been made and raises the material effect of the cyber attack on Clorox. The markets seemed have taken little action from the 14th of August, albeit a steady decline on share price. However the past 5 days has seen a their price has fallen 6%, and 12% from the 1st September, as the markets react to the longer term effects of the attack.
Yesterdays 8-K is an important milestone (https://lnkd.in/euJG5FKx), and may have a further impact on its share prices. While it reveals little about the attack however the length of the outage and its effects do demonstrate the challenges Clorox has faced in dealing with the incident and maybe the depth, breadth and severity of the attack; the material effects on earnings, and likely short/ medium term cash flow. That credit rating agencies will be focused on.
From December 2023 8-K filings related to cyber will have to demonstrate a material impact broader than financial. The markets will be provided with more data on cyber attacks, that will be scrutinized by investors and regulators alike. One has to consider the longer term effects on market registrants, the includes FPIs in the UK and EU as regulatory compliance will be used as a further lever for hackers to extract money.
