Thank you for posting Olaf Classen. If correct and the ransomware on its Swedish data center is a severe as reported, and that some of its clients have lost 20 years worth of data as both product data and backups were encrypted. Then it is difficult to find words that describe the effect of the attack on Tietoevry’s customers.
In a twist that highlights the growing challenges the healthcare sector faces with cyber attacks. The agency responsible for ensuring the cheapest medicines are dispensed in pharmacies and that pharmaceutical companies supply them in sufficient quantities is effected by the hack on Tietoevry. No contractual clause will support the customers get their data back.
The hack is a further demonstration of the effects of third party supplier risks, cloud security and the growing threat of nation state threat actors when they target single points of failure, that highlight concentration risk.
Demonstrating EU NIS 2 compliance has come to late for Tietoevry, or parts of the Swedish healthcare sector.
