Thank you for posting Ted Dziekanowski. The EV market has been developing quickly over the past 2-3 years. Alongside which the stream of issues being raised over cybersecurity are also developing at an equally fast pace. With some attack vectors being at the basic end of disruption such as DDoS and communication vulnerability exploits.
With increasing concern that EV charging vendors are not implementing appropriate security within the design and development of their products. Demonstrated through an ever increasing number of publicly available comments from the hacking community and media. A concern now is that the snow ball will keep rolling, as threat actors focus on EV charging as the network develops.
In the EU EV charging falls under EU NIS released onto the EU Journal in January 2023. Placing ownership of cybersecurity risk management, governance and reporting into the board room of the infrastructure manufacturers. Empowering EU Member States to oversight and assure cybersecurity compliance of CNI vendors and mandate cybersecurity certification of ICT products and services as well as the products that CNI vendors embed into their solutions.
One suspect that it will get political attention as it is critical to the development of the electric automotive revolution.
