Thank you for posting @Thaddeus Dziekanowski, a very informative read highlighting the challenges the management of cybersecurity poses to the U.S auto industry and its supply chains. As the Commerce Department moves to limit the use of technology that originates from China. Stemming from national security concerns raised over the use of foreign made technology and its possible cybersecurity risks.
The concerns stem from the risk that connected cars pose to U.S infrastructure; the amount of data connected cars collect, where that data is sent, what it could be used for and the ability for foreign governments to influence transportation networks. Changes that will have a significant impact on supply chains, costs and security.
Are we reaping the rewards of globalization. Where we didn’t envisage the need to manage the security of products and services we have acquired. We did not consider the implications to national, corporate and societal security, or the loss of IP.
