Thank you for posting Tom McLeod. AI has allot of upside and allot of down side, both of which have to be carefully managed. As the report demonstrates the rush to ‘them there hills’, that has become AI requires careful consideration and management. Management that has to be put in up front if we are to manage the risks associated with its use.
The Dutch audit reveals some interesting stats, for example the total of 433 AI systems, experiments with 167 are on-going and 141 have terminated. Most are deployed by the Ministry of Justice and security and Asylum and Migration. The biggest use of AI is for Knowledge processing.
The report gleans allot from the AI systems that were terminated. With regulation, IT and Information management been obstacles to implementation. Risk management was seen as a significant requirement when deploying AI ranging from DPIA, national risk frameworks, cloud risk assessments and security.
The audit is well worth reading. It sets out a methodology for evaluating the use of AI, its opportunities and threats. One wonders how successful the AI programs were at delivering benefits to the end users and how meaningful the outputs from the AI models were.
