Thank you for the post Bryan Foss. The bigger threat to the UK by Russia is cyber, not direct kinetic warfare. A threat that has been demonstrated over the past 6 months alone to be vulnerable to.

The challenge the UK faces is that while we need an offensive cyber strategy, more importantly, we need a defensive cyber strategy. A defensive cyber strategy that addresses the cyber coverage, skills, and compliance gaps across all UK public and private sectors.

Attacks against UK defense contractors are on the rise. Other victims of the hack are believed to include technicians at BAE Systems, Siemens, and Rolls-Royce, all of which have military contracts.

There are many opportunities to develop a UK cyber strategy for our defense industry. The UK defense industry has been covered by US cyber regulations since 2016, and as of 10th November, updated US cyber regulations are effective that affect UK defense contractors supplying the DoD. Requiring cyber compliance, or the DoD won’t issue a contract.
