Thank you Olaf Classen for posting. The attack on Evotec would just fall under the carpet as just another cyber attack. But this attack demonstrates alternative consequences for a company following a cyber attack. If as is reported, the company had to leave the DAX for its failure to issue an annual report, as a result of a cyber attack in early April.
It is serious as it removes the company from capital markets and while the firm can no doubt access funding from alternate sources, the short term effect on brand and reputation cannot be good.
The attacks demonstrates why capital market regulators such as the SEC released their cybersecuirty risk management proposal. That if implemented will require U.S public entities to demonstrate that they are managing cyber risks, amongst other things to protect shareholders and markets.
