Thank you Ted Dziekanowski for sharing the enclosed. With the recent EO signed by the US president, the report by the WEF and now the realisation of the impact of cyber on balance sheet security. One can only expect corporate and market regulators to focus in on cyber security, to protect shareholders. Equifax became the first company to be downgraded (by Moody’s) in 2019 from its 2017 cyberattack and concerns about medium term cashflow.
If the SEC has to play by FISMA rules, undergoe cyber oversight and assurance, then why shouldn’t companies listed on covered exchanges have to comply? If poor cyber security results in a change in credit rating I wonder if companies would see it as a worth while investment to keep their ‘cost of credit’ under management, and their shareholders happy. Alternatively face-off against the market regulator?
