Thanks for posting Ted Dziekanowski. The legal and compliance market place is a mixed bag of messages, depending upon where the information comes. Ransomware attacks down, then up, the average costs of an attack up then down, payments down then up. It’s difficult to assess the impact of cyber attacks on the market as is.

However cyber regulation and regulatory enforcement regimes maybe easier to assess, as the outcomes following a data breach notification are easier to track. One suspects with increased regulatory oversight the impact of regulatory enforcement will increase. Along with the costs of non-compliance, with forensic costs, legal costs and enforcement rising.

Shareholders and other key stakeholder are increasingly aware of a boards obligations for cybersecurity and the affects of a cyber attack. Obligations that will drive legal risk further into the board room.
