The breadth and depth of cyber attacks against EU CNI is continually growing in frequency, severity and impact. The average number of cyberattacks against utilities doubling between 2020 and 2022 (https://lnkd.in/eNkbQanb) with 1,101 attacks registered weekly last year.
Cyber is a significant threat to the energy sector and all CNI providers across energy, oil, gas, water, transport, healthcare, digital infrastructure, banking, financial infrastructure, ICT managed services and public administration. Our own estimates are that well over 50,000 companies will be affected by EN NIS 2 from October 2024. That is outside of those affected by consequential losses if the energy sector suffers a cyber incident.
