The case for cybersecurity expertise on the boards of public organizations on U.S capital markets has been made, and waiting for final approval by the SEC and final regulations in the EU. The clock is now ticking for boards of public firms to address the cyber talent gap and their personal knowledge and experience of cybersecurity risk management.

There is a need for cybersecurity professionals to address their own gaps in cybersecurity risk management and regulatory compliance knowledge. If they are going to add value at the board table, and accept and manage their own legal and compliance risks.

With cyber regulators enforcing cyber risk management in the board room. Cyber regulatory compliance will be a closely fought race between regulators and those that have to demonstrate oversight and assurance of regulatory compliance.
