The challenge and opportunity for the cyber community is that cyber is becoming increasingly regulated, and boards must demonstrate governance over cyber, or face civil and criminal penalties.
Boards are shooting themselves in the foot if they do not see the value of their security professionals and support them. But one fears that boards’ blindness to cyber, regulation, and compliance will only be felt when it’s too late, and they face regulatory sanctions.
To put cyber compliance into perspective teh US DoW CMMC program will likely affect 100,000 global DIB manufacturers, and EU cyber regs will affect around 150,000 companies. That’s before you touch AI regulation, and we know how insecure agents are!!!
That’s a lot of compliance……..
