The House of representatives have signed off on the $858Bn NDAA for 2023. There’s a significant focus on cyber, including the establishment of Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy within the Department of State, to be headed by an Ambassador and promote U.S cyber strategy, policy, collaboration and coordinate diplomatic response to cyber attacks with U.S alies and NATO.

A new role of Assistant secretary of defence for cyber policy, who will be responsible for the overall supervision of policy of the Department of Defense for cyber.

I am disappointed to see that the page on UK cyber compliance was removed. However there are interesting nuggets that demonstrate the clear direction the U.S is taking with cyber as a national security issue. With the coordination of cyber through the National Cyber Director, State Department, the Department of Homeland Security and DoD. As the NDAA 2023 aligns these departments to consult and coordinate cybersecurity strategy and delivery for national security.

Ted Dziekanowski I wonder how the role of cyber ambassador and assistant secretary of cyber policy will cut across the implementation of cybersecurity for the DIB under DFARS and CMMC. As more clarity is created around U.S national and international cyber strategy and the role of cyber in national security?
