The insurance industry has heritage going back over 400 years. It’s had its share of ups and downs through years with the war of American Independence, the Napoleonic wars, WWI, WWII, many financial crisis, and more recently climate change and now cyber.
While the market is used to managing uncertainly, it relies on people to develop risk management solutions. More so as technology and digital innovation create increasingly complex insurable risks. Cyber is one of the biggest risks we face, several recent congressional presentations highlight the threat that cyber poses to national, economic and societal security. A risk organisations have relied upon the insurance sector to help mitigate.
There are many assessments of the size, growth and profitability of the cyber insurance market. All of which point towards a market that needs new talent to develop profitable products and services, if the +70 percent of companies that do not have cyber insurance are to take out a cyber policy. The insurance and re-insurance industry are to be effective at covering loss and the insured are going to be supported to mitigate the cyber risk that is being regulated.
How will the the insurance industry adapt.
