The NHS faces the same problems most companies face. What is my data, where is it located and who has access to it. We live is a digitally dependent economy, that relies upon data for most aspects of daily interactions, for food production, energy, banking, social services and healthcare and more.
Why is it a surprise, given cyber is the biggest risk most companies face, that NHS data is exposed. When private sector industry cannot secure data effectively, why would the public sector?
Until we treat cyber with a whole of society approach and instill accountability and responsibility for its management and security. We will not move forward and we will keep providing the resources to cyber criminals to exploit societal, corporate and national security.
