The past year has taught one thing with respect to cyber. The knowledge, skills and experience of most boards is very low, that’s backed up by survey after survey. This in part is due to the lack of younger board members. Cyber is relatively new phenomena, attributed to digitial growth. Digital is synonymous with cyber and cyber is now a national security issue.The challenge for boards is that cyber is now being dealt with by nation states using the most blunt, yet serious lever available, that is legislation. Irrespective of it being Australia, the EU or U.S cyber regulation is here and its focused on boards of covered entities.
