The Securities and Exchange Commissions (SEC) proposal for Cybersecurity Risk Management will have a significant impact on public companies that list on US Capital Markets, including foreign issuers. With recent and on-going developments in US cyber regulation and the SECs regulatory obligations under securities law, will be finalised in the very near future.
Thank you International Security Journal (ISJ) and Matthew Bull for publishing my article on the SEC proposal, and its impact on public company cybersecurity risk management, strategy, governance, board room and incident disclosure.
You can also join me on the 21st April, where I am participating in a webinar hosted by the IIA-The Institute of Internal Auditors on ‘Staying in front of the new SEC Cybersecurity disclosure requirements’.

The SEC proposal is a significant development in cybersecurity regulation for public company boards. It formalises existing market requirements for material risk oversight, assurance and reporting. Along side the DoJs Civil Cyber Fraud initiative it demonstrates a further commitment by Federal government to enforce cybersecurity compliance across the public and private sector.
