The U.S government is moving forward in addressing its cybersecurity skills gap, with the White House and Chris Inglis holding a National Cyber Workforce and Education Summit. Looking to address the shortage of qualified resources the country requires to address the growing issue of cybersecurity. Aiming to close the gap of around 700,000 unfilled cybersecurity positions in the U.S.

Discussing the need to ‘Create and prioritize new skills-based pathways to cybersecurity jobs. How to build pipelines for historically untapped talent, including underserved and diverse communities; how investing in cyber training and education will enable Americans to be successful in our digital economy and empower society to harness cyber capabilities to achieve individual and collective aspirations.’

The pipeline will need to address the additional roles required across risk, compliance, legal, audit and training as cybersecurity risk management legislation develops into regulation. Requiring greater oversight and assurance of cybersecurity risks ‘left of bang’.
