The U.S whistleblower program has been a useful tool in the arsenal of compliance. Will a recession drive more people to raise whistleblower claims? The DoJ has been gearing up its Civil Cyber fraud initiative and cyber has been tested both through the False Claims Act and the more recent Twitter case.
The U.S False claims program has generated more than $5.6 billion in settlements and judgments from civil cases involving fraud and false claims against the government in the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2021. It also applicable to international organisations, that accept funding from Federal government.
When times get hard, regulation increases, compliance levels drop will we see more Whistleblower claims?
