The UK Governments National Cybersecurity Center (NCSC), the tech Market isn’t working. One would go much further than this, taking a leader from Chris Inglis the inaugural head of the White House ONCD. Market forces have failed to deliver cybersecurity, that includes the tech market.
The cybersecurity eco system is complex mix of relationships between government, public and the private sector. It’s an eco system where the number of skilled and experienced cyber professionals is very small. Its an eco system that has been driven by corporate economics, the insurance industry, government action, resources and the obvious rise in the frequency, complexity and severity of cyber attacks.
Of course we can manage cybersecurity, but as we have seen with U.S and EU cyber regulation, government action has been required.
