The US has made the decision as to whether TikTok is a threat to national security, today and into the future. When everyone has a data collection device at their fingertips. We depend on digitial for every aspect of our lives collecting, sharing data is a way of life. Platforms such as TikTok hoover it up, process it and pass it on to whom ever is allowed to consume it, in this case the CCP. So what maybe irrelevant today maybe relevant tomorrow. However the issue for social media users is the data they send is not their own. The moment it leaves the physical and enters the logical world it is used for a whole new purpose, not just national security. But the security of society and corporate security. Digital data has a life span that cannot be calculated. Paper and microfilm degrade, but digitial media gets passed from one medium to the next for an indeterminate period of time. There may have been a time when we’d all have sat down and said this data sharing and social media thing is just FUD. Not any more, the digital genie is out the bottle and it ain’t going back in for no one. It’s weaponised and when you fight a 200 year war, todays social media content is tomorrows weaponised threat.Todays digital dependency has created a drug that is routed into the fabric of our lives, a drug there’s no rehab for.
