There has been several orders of magnitude more column inches on cyber risk management regulation in 2023 so far, than there was in the same period 2022. No wonder when the EU and U.S ploughing into cyber risk management regulation and CISA are trying to work out how to support Federal Agencies manage cybersecurity.

With so much change planned, being drafted and being implemented boards are facing a wave of cyber regulatory compliance. Regulatory compliance they are going to be forced to address, at a time when the resources, knowledge and experience available in the market are in very short supply.

Cyber regulation shifts cyber compliance ‘left of bang’, requiring oversight, assurance and attestation of cyber compliance. A cybersecurity risk management culture, risk assessment methodology and a cybersecuirty controls framework. Under a 3 Line of Defence model to demonstrate corporate governance and an understanding of cyber risk and a risk reduction program.
