There may be trouble ahead, as the second major cyberattack in the UK this year hits home. The extent of the JLR attack on the companies’ supply chains is becoming apparent as the fallout of the attack unfolds.
2 weeks following the attack, it is clear that things are not all right at JLR. While it has the balance sheet to continue through the crisis, many of its suppliers do not, creating a double-edged sword for both JLR and its critical suppliers. On one hand, suppliers are facing the financial pressures that Just-in-Time creates across supply chains. On the other hand, when JLR sorts itself out, will it have the suppliers in place to deliver parts to restart production? As fixed cots rack up daily for everyone in the LJR supply chain.
