There’s a moral in this story for boards and the emphasis they place over management of cybersecurity. As a 17 year old UK teenager is arrested in connection with last year’s MGM hack.
The Script kiddy is alleged to have been involved in the attack that cost MGM around $100 million. Like those members of the $Lspsus group causing damage from his/her bedroom.
At what point will boards be held accountable for managing their fiduciary responsibility, cybersecurity and accept the consequences that can be dished out by teenagers, let alone Nation state threat actors.
Board governance is clearly lacking over such a critical risk.
