This is a very useful post by the CIS, demonstrating the complexity of cybersecurity compliance. Compliance that is compounded further by U.S and EU regulatory requirements to implement cybersecurity risk management. Requirements that necessitate organizations to implement a risk management program.
It demonstrates why there is a very real need for international harmonisation and standardization of cybersecurity risk management regulation, frameworks and standards. With cyber risk management regulation here and mor eon its way, covered entities are and will have to address compliance. Compliance that sets different standards in different jurisdictions, increasing legal and compliance risk, costs of compliance, and ultimately trade.
