This is an interesting read, the U.S Department of Treasury cybersecurity enhancement budget for 2023. (https://lnkd.in/esE_5hrU) I don’t doubt that cybersecurity compliance and enforcement is not on the DoT agenda for 2023. They are looking to increase their cyber budget from $18Million in 2022 to $215Million in 2023, that’s a large and significant increase. They are also looking to increase their cyber headcount from 10 FTE to 21 FTE.
A significant portion of the investment is to increase current cybersecurity capabilities to protect data in line with Executive order 14028 (EO), Improving the Nations Cybersecurity as well as Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Memorandums, specifically M-21-31 Improving the Federal Governments Investigative and Remediation Capabilities (security logging) and M-22-09, moving the U.S. Government Toward Zero Trust Cybersecurity Principles.
Nice to see the focus on FISMA resources for oversight and assurance.
Demonstrating the need to improve DoT cybersecurity compliance.
