Was it, wasn’t it. A great article that discusses the similarities between the U.S F-35B, Chinas J-35 and the defense IP that has been stolen by hackers from the F-35, F-22 and B-2 programs.

It’s the question that continues around IP theft and Chinas stealth fighter program. In the case of the J-35 and F-35B it may not be a difficult question to answer from the outside, one hopes what’s on the inside makes the difference. However the U.S Government Accountability Office (GAO) has reported many times about the theft of IP from the Defense Industry Base (DIB), and the need to secure defense supply chains.

The F-35B and J-35 images, analysis and GAO reports demonstrate IP theft. They are the reason why the DoD launched its DFARS program in 2017 and continues with its CMMC program. Albeit it is difficult to see if any have or will deliver short term change in the protection of defence IP. 95% of organisations are SMBs and they supply the DIB and are organisations that cannot afford to implement NIST SP 800-171. Organisations I have spoken to in the EU had never heard of DFARS or CMMC.

One wonders if the DoJ and DoD need to take a hard look at the FCA to make meaningful change. It takes one whistleblower?
