Cybereason, an Israeli – US Cyber security firm has reported what it believes to be a persistent and targeted threat to 10 cell phone carriers globally.
The carriers are not named, but its believed that hackers, using techniques similar to a Chinese affiliate, were involved. Resulting in a network compromise and the theft of sensitive meta data on clients.
If valid, the attack vector was very simple and resulted in a significant compromise. Which may have been addressed with ‘house keeping’.
