We’ve seen what can happen when AI takes to the waves with the rollout of MoltBot, and while a great demonstration of the power of AI, it left the gate open and exposed users to security risks.
Boards are now being regulated to govern through the EU AI Act and the recently adopted South Korean AI Act. Be it AI developers or users, AI risk management is the responsibility of the board. AI risk is difficult to manage as it is a function of Data, Cloud, and Cyber risk. These are risks that boards already struggle to govern, oversight and assure. Risks that the security professional is only part of managing within the three lines of defence.
Organisations have been sent a warning this week of the speed of AI adoption, the opportunities, threats, and risks associated with what can go wrong with the deployment of MoltBot. Governance, oversight, and assurance of the security of their most important asset are a priority. Through the adoption of the three lines of defence that is a organisational wide challenge.
