What does this tell us about the cyber issues at hand?

What does this tell us about the cyber issues at hand? It tells us that it is serious enough for several nation-states to raise cyber (again) as a security concern and go to market to publish it as such. Warning that cyber threat actors have access to telecommunications networks and companies. Warnings that only go to reiterate those made in 2024 by several nation-states. That threat actors have access to CNI networks in what are considered pre-positioning moves.

At what point do we stop, think, and take the threat of cyber seriously? We can spend trillions on crypto and AI investment, yet our spending on cyber investment does not seem to yield results. Market forces have failed cyber.

We are doing something very wrong. When we do not seem to be able to protect the infrastructure upon which we rely. For example, as quantum computing develops, no amount of communications encryption will prevent nation-state threat actors from ‘listening in’. Cyber attacks have been demonstrated to switch off the lights.

One feels that the cyber domain will overtake the kinetic warfare domain in the not-too-distant future. Especially when adversaries are inside our networks already.

The only lever left is to regulate cybersecurity.
