With a range of cyber regulations on the cards that require boards to adopt cybersecurity risk management. Requiring board members to demonstrate cybersecurity risk management knowledge and experience and that of their cybersecurity advisors.

Figures on the number of security professionals already operating at board level, and the traits, skills and experience CISOS will require create a stark picture as cyber regulation approaches. The enclosed report is not the only one that paints a challenging picture. We know that boards have not adopted cybersecurity as widely as will be expected by cyber regulation; that board cyber knowledge and experience is difficult for many board members to demonstrate; and the skills required to work at board level are different to those that many CISOs are used to.

Creating a challenging environment for corporate cyber risk management compliance. That one suspects is going to take time to resolve, not just for the Russell 1000 companies, but covered entities under the SEC proposal, EU NIS 2 and DORA.
