Wonder what happens to the UK and EU defence industry if the US United States Department of War decides to hold covered UK defence contractors to their DFARS 7012 and CMMC obligations?
The US Department of War and its DIB is between a rock and a hard place. cybersecurity compliance across the DIB vs. national security and fulfilling the DoW’s mission.
Does anyone know if there is a way around not complying? Will it come down to a simple calculation? Does an F35 fly if it can’t get parts from a UK or EU defence contractor? Or will non-compliance and home-shoring by the US defence industry ultimately shut UK and EU contractors out of the proposed $1.5tr 2027 US defence spending?
Would accepting other nation-states’ reciprocal cyber compliance require a fundamental change to US defence procurement policy, or not?
