A great read. In a sign that cyber regulation is advancing globally the Australian Government is moving ahead with its critical Infrastructure Bill, as it passes the lower house. Expanding the scope of critical infrastructure to include Communications, financial services, data storage and processing, defence industry, higher education and space technology. Creating a deal of consternation from tech providers.
The Bill includes powers for the Australian Signals Regiment or Australian Cyber Security Centre to take control of a company in the event of a cyber attack as a ‘last resort’. Giving a significant amount of authority and control to the government over companies in the event of a cyber attack.
