A great set of reads about the increased threat of cyber espionage and IP theft. Cyber espionage is so pervasive it directly threatens competitive advantage and national and economic security. Every dollar, pound or euro that is spent on research and product development has to be recouped. It’s much harder to recouple if the innovation that’s been created has been stolen and used for competitive advantage.

More seriously defense innovation is affected by IP theft, a reason why the DoD introduced DFARS updates from 2017, to protect U.S military and defense interest. A program that has consistently failed to secure defense IP.

Cyber is not just about ransomware, its about the threat to national and economic security.
