Call us now:
A thin regulatory tightrope that is getting thinner.
The costs of developing a compliance regime to satisfy market regulators is not small. If the SEC for example adopts an approved persons regime for crypto exchanges the whole board dynamic will change, KYC regimes across decentralised exchanges will add a burden of proof that will have to be managed and my own experience with the ECB for cyber and IT oversight and assurance required covered financial institutions to qualify their cybersecurity and the quality of their infrastructure, that for decentralised crypto exchanges is cloud based and difficult if not impossible to identify.
Investors will have to closely scrutinise and oversight their investments in crypto currency, at a time when governments are looking at Central Bank Digital Currencies.
I suspect both the SEC and crypto currencies are treading carefully to find a middle ground given the popularity of crypto and the drive to develop suitable regulation.
