A week of healthcare cybersecurity regulation on both sides of the pond. With noises the EU will focus on healthcare cyber next year and bills being put forward in response to the 2024 United Health cyber attack. The enclosed is a bi-partisan bill put forward by Sen Bill Cassidy (R-LA), ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, Mark Warner (D-VA), John Cornyn (R-TX), and Maggie Hassan (D-NH). A demonstration of work focuses on cybersecurity across both sides of the house. https://lnkd.in/e_92xBZwThe bill calls for the Department of Health and Human Services to update HIPPA to strengthen cybersecurity across the healthcare sector. It follows a bill put forward by Sen. Warner and Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) called the Health Infrastructure Security and Accountability Act, that puts forward civil and criminal penalties for boards that fail to demonstrate the management of cybersecurity by healthcare providers.https://lnkd.in/efADiQS82025 looks to be an interesting year for U.S and EU healthcare cybersecurity. The unfortunate backdrop is boards lack the knowledge skills and experience to oversight and assure cybersecurity risk, and there’s a global shortage of skilled and expereinced cybersecurity professionals.@Thaddeus Dziekanowski Brian D.
