An assessment by Bloomberg Law identified that ransomware was the most urgent threat to face US healthcare firms processibg HIPA covered data, over the past 3 years.

Citing a failure to educate and manage staff as the main cause. Allowing the wrong staff to have access to information they shouldn’t, as the top reason. But its complicated, as there are valid reasons why staff need to have access to medical information, making it very difficult to control.

Quite rightly making the point that having all the technology in place, it may takes 1 person to have access to the wrong data to cause a problem. Even if that problem is caused by poorly developed software.
