Will there ever be a time when the famously secure bitcoin will ever be safe. Not for the foreseeable future as it looks like processes are not managed well enough.
If confirmed, this hack has to be up there with the QuadrigaCX crypto loss and Bangladesh hack from a fraud and liability perspective. It won’t do much to address public and investor opinion on digital currencies.
Banks have financial controls on transactions, tiered on the transaction value. How did a single transaction of $40Mn get through so easily?
Maybe it’s time to ask the difficult question about market regulation and liability of Bitcoin.
