An interesting report by the ITV on the state of cybersecurity across the UK Public sector in general. The real world effects of cyber attacks from the many well documented incidents over the past 10 years are only to visible and demonstrated by the report.
Local authorities and the NHS provide the basic services for the most vulnerable members of society. Often with outdated systems. Systems that are difficult and expensive to patch. They find it difficult to attract talent and pay market rates, and invariably find it difficult if not impossible to provide adequate cyber defenses.
If the private sector is struggling to address cybersecurity, would we be surprised if the public sector cannot address the problem?
A cyber budget of £10k?
