And here is a cybersecurity and governance problem that stands in front of the UK defence industry, specifically contractors that supply products and services to the United States Department of War. The DoW CMMC program requires compliance with cybersecurity practices or lose the opportunity to tender for new contracts, win new contracts, and deliver to existing contract options.

CMMC is likely the largest cybersecurity program that most have never heard of. But for the global DIB, it’s a program that affects contractors who deal with CUI, and is a contractual obligation they have likely already signed off. So governance is now an important requirement for the boards of DIB contractors and CMMC compliance on the critical path to contract award.

As this article points out, compliance also comes with liabilities under the False Claims Act, which could directly affect ‘Affirming Officials’.
