Delta airlines has filed an updated 8k to the SEC, following the 19th of July Crowdstrike incident.

On the downside the incident is estimated to have cost Delta $380million in customer refunds for cancelled flights and compensation and non fuel expenses cost the company $170 million. On the upside Delta saved $50 million in fuel as a result of the 7,000 cancelled flights.

By no means financially material the incident. One expects the incident has had a material impact on the company as seen through the lens of a reasonable investor. The incident highlighted the challenges ICT and third party supplier risks caused Delta airlines (an other companies), the legal and contractual risks and broader risks that incident response and remediation cause organisations at a very short notice.
