Elexon a company which you have probably never heard of. An important component in the UKs electricity market, has reported it has been hacked. Elexon acts an a clearing house for payments between electricity generators, transmission and suppliers (those that supply it to your home). Handling settlements between 392 companies across the UK electricity industry. There no news on what type of attack, other than internal IT systems were compromised.
Interestingly the National Grid (those that handle the transmission of electricity across the UK). Said they were investigating any impact of the hack on their networks.
Let’s wait and see the outcome of the post incident investigation.
