European Parliament has reached a provisional agreement on the EU ‘Cyber Solidarity Act (CSA)’, a further piece of the EUs cyber regulatory jigsaw puzzle. That includes and in some cases amends the Cybersecurity Act, Resilience of Critical Entities Directive, EU NIS 2, Digital Operational Resilience Act and Cyber Resilience Act. The CSA strengthens the relations and capacities between EU Member states to detect, prepare for and respond to cybersecurity threats and incidents. Developing a ‘European Cyber Shield’, National Security Operations Centres, Cooperation and Information sharing between Union Entities. Building the infrastructure and capabilities to enable EU member states coordinate the management of cybersecurity incidents and crisis.

‘Today’s agreements set new milestones for Europe’s cyber resilience. These rules will strengthen the EU’s and member states’ capabilities to prepare, prevent, respond, and recover from large-scale cyber threats or incidents. Moreover, creating the possibility for the certification of managed security services will help to ensure a high common level of these cybersecurity services across the EU by facilitating their cross-border provision to the benefit of our citizens and businesses.’ – Mathieu Michel

This is a further example of the EUs dedication to building a coordinated cybersecurity strategy and regulatory program, stretching ‘Left and Right of Bang’. Including the proactive management of cybersecurity across Critical EU Entities, through to the management of cyber incidents and crisis.
