In Canada your IP address is now linked to the individual or organisation. As the supreme court of Canada ruled that police must have a warrant or court order to obtain a persons or organisations IP address.
The court considered whether an IP address alone, without any of the personal information attached to it, was protected by an expectation of privacy under the Charter. Ruing that should be, in a close 5:4 majority.
